Nine Keys to Networking with a Heart by: Sue Urda

Nine Keys to Networking with a Heart
by: Sue Urda
Networking is something that we do as human beings every single day of our lives. Essentially, networking is any form of communication that is had with someone that may connect you with other people they know. Any contact you have with anyone whether it is in the grocery store line, at a school event for your kids or at a business meeting are all forms of networking. The question is; are you using these connection points as a positive form of networking that serves you?
The key to making networking work in your favor is the energy with which you approach the communication. As a rule, the most positive form of energy comes directly from your heart. This energy moves through you and ‘in to’ whomever you are connecting with to imbue them with your heart-centered energy. In its raw form this energy has the power to move mountains, and certainly to move someone to thinking positively about you.
Networking with a Heart is the highest form of networking and when it is used properly will invoke lifelong clients, business partners and friends.
Here are nine key elements to Networking with a Heart:
6. Use the Universal Laws as a guide – the Law of Attraction, the Law of Giving and Receiving and the Law of Defenselessness are the keys to Networking with a Heart. As you use these Laws, the Universal Powers will step in and guide your interaction to the highest and best good.
2. Maintain a pleasant and open attitude. Relax the muscles of your face by smiling and relax your body by taking a deep belly breath. Keep an open stance with your arms uncrossed. These physical actions will send a message to your brain to be relaxed and open, and it will assist a flowing conversation.
3. Feel your way through the conversation, instead of thinking your way through. So often, our brains get in the way of the essential message of our hearts, and this could lead to misunderstandings or stilted conversations.
4. Eye contact is essential. It is said that the eyes are the windows to the soul, so the simple act of looking directly into someone’s eyes will provide insights into their psyche, their motivation. It will also provide to them insights into yours.
5. Become genuinely interested in the other person. Everyone has something to offer and something to teach. Being open and listening intently will provide you with information and tools that you can use to better yourself, your position in life and your connection with others.
6. Be Prepared. Have a concise and rehearsed 15-second answer to the question, “So what do you do?” The more easily these words flow from you, the more confidence you will build and the easier it will be for you to be understood and referred by others.
7. Ask how you may be of service. As human beings we are on this planet for the purpose of joy, and the more fruitful our interactions and communication with others, the more we will have to be joyful about.
8. Express Gratitude Freely and Often. It is always appropriate to share gratitude for people, situations and things in your life. Using the words “I am grateful” as often as you can will impress upon others your positive nature, your sense of well-being, and it will make you someone they are attracted to be around.
9. Be Yourself; Everyone Else is Already Taken. Putting on airs or pretending to be someone you are not is a sure way to put people off. Show people the real you, and especially show them the best parts of you. In this way, they will feel the natural connection and ‘heart’ of you.
Networking with a Heart is the fastest, easiest and most energetically positive form of networking, and it is guaranteed to work. Try it in your next interaction and notice not only how you feel in the process – notice the results!
